Who We Are

Established in 1954, the Professional Fire Fighters of North Dakota is a statewide organization made up of local unions chartered and affiliated with the International Association of Fire Fighters. We proudly represent more than 400 career fire fighters from a growing number of locals across North Dakota. Every day, our members respond to emergencies in communities across the state — protecting lives, property, and the safety of North Dakota families. As the unified voice of North Dakota’s professional fire fighters, we are committed to strengthening our profession, advancing policies that protect public safety, and ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our members and the communities we serve.

Legislative & Political Action

Assertively advance a pro-firefighter legislative agenda through disciplined PAC governance, strategic political engagement, and sustained relationship-building with lawmakers statewide.

Training & Education

Strengthen affiliate operations and leadership capacity through structured union training focused on financial oversight, compliance, labor-management relations, political advocacy, officer development, and strategic communications.

Wages & Benefits

Advocate for data-driven wages and benefits that prioritize firefighter health and wellness, ensure competitive compensation, strengthen recruitment and retention, and sustain a resilient professional fire service across North Dakota.

Workers’ Compensation

Lead a coordinated, statewide effort to protect and strengthen fire fighters’ workers’ compensation rights—ensuring injured fire fighters receive the benefits they are entitled to under the law.
